Viewing information about software licenses

To display information about Application Switch Module (ASM) licenses, use the show license asm

command. The following shows example output.

To display detailed information about a particular license, use the show license index_number

command. The following shows example output.

Syntax: show license [asm] [index_number]

The following table describes the information displayed by the show license command.

This field... Displays...

Index The license hash number that uniquely identifies the license.

Package Name The package name for the license.

LID The license ID. This number is embedded in the Brocade device.

Status Indicates the status of the license:

• Invalid – A license is invalid when the LID doesn’t match the serial

number of the device for which the license was purchased.

• Active – The license is valid and in effect on the device.

• Expired – For trial licenses only, this indicates that the trial license

has expired.

This field will always display “active” with the show license asm

command.

Type Indicates whether the license is normal (perpetual) or trial (temporary).

This field will always display “normal” with the show license asm

command.

Chassis with only one ASM4 on the box in slot 1:
