Stateless NAT64 static mapping configuration
3
DRAFT: BROCADE CONFIDENTIAL
FIGURE 9 Stateless NAT64 translation
Populating the NAT64 mapping table
The stateless NAT64 gateway uses a mapping table to translate an IPv6 client address to an IPv4
address.
This mapping table can be configured manually (using static mapping) or generated dynamically
(using real-time dynamic learning or prefetched dynamic learning). In a stateless NAT64
configuration, all address mappings are one-to-one.
In configurations using static mapping, all entries in the NAT64 gateway mapping table are
manually defined using the nat64 map command.
Dynamically generated mapping tables can be populated in real time by way of real-time dynamic
learning or pre-populated by way of prefetched dynamic learning.
Stateless NAT64 static mapping configuration
In stateless NAT64 configurations using static mapping, the mapping table used to match IPv6 and
IPv4 addresses is populated manually using the nat64 map command.
Route injection can be used in advanced static mapping configurations to inject IPv6 and IPv4
addresses into the respective network routing tables. Route distribution is then performed using
any one of the routing protocols supported by ServerIron ADX: OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP (IPv6 to IPv4).
This section is divided into three topics:
Basic stateless NAT64 static mapping configuration: This topic describes the tasks required to
configure a basic stateless NAT64 gateway.
Stateless NAT64 static mapping configuration with route injection: This topic describes the
tasks required to configure a stateless NAT64 gateway that uses static route injection.
