Stateless NAT46 overview
When configured as a NAT46 gateway, ServerIron ADX enables IPv4-only clients to communicate
with IPv6 resources by way of address and packet translation. In a stateless NAT46 configuration,
ServerIron ADX uses a mapping table to match IPv4 request packets sent from the IPv4 client to an
IPv6 destination address of the IPv6 resource.
Stateless NAT46 components
Figure 12 shows a high-level view of a ServerIron ADX NAT46 configuration in which an IPv4-only
client resides in an IPv4 network and an IPv6-only server (resource) resides in an IPv6 network. The
DNS server and the ServerIron ADX communicate with both the IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
